FurReal Heroes began as a labor of love by two pre-veterinary students at Augustana College in 2019. Having been inspired by and immersed in service and facility dog training through a college organization called Viking Pups, these students recognized that working with these exceptional dogs was a passion they wanted to pursue long after graduation.
As students of veterinary science, our founders sought to create an organization that clearly prioritizes the health and wellness of dogs, while also providing targeted, high-quality training that prepares them to be safe, reliable and loving companions to the people we place them with.
Through hard work and heartfelt love, our FurReal Heroes team is helping to expand the reach and impact of service dogs to more individuals, families and facilities throughout our community. We also continue to work with Viking Pups and other organizations to educate the public on service dog rights and etiquette in order to foster greater awareness and acceptance of people with disabilities and the important role service dogs have in their lives.
